I love London in the winter. I like getting warm and walking around Oxford Street then turning into Regents Street and walking to Trafalgar Square. I like going upto Westminster Bridge and then walking down the Thames. Its an amazing experience just walking past so many people with the ones you love and really enjoying the true feelings that this city evokes. Its a tough city, no doubt about that, but it has a warmth to it. I think winter more than any other time of the year really brings that out.
Unfortunately the city is also being run by an egoistic bastard. Here is a link to a good article about snowy London.

EVENT
This promises to be an interesting debate; It’s an evening with the controversial Palestinian academic Dr Azzam Tamimi and it is held by the frontline club – a really funky journo-scholar retreat near Paddington. I just saw on their site that they even rent out a few bedrooms in the building!

Obnoxious celebrities around the world should let out a sigh of relief as their kind has nurtured more like them in the younger generation to take their place in the future.
This is Peaches Geldof with her boyfriend Frederick Blood-Royale. As you can see he is a complete clown and has tied a golden ribbon around his neck. He currently sings in a band called Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man and his real name is Fred McPherson. I am bowled over by the originality of his dress, chosen name and name of his band. Peaches reveals that she chose him as a boyfriend because: “He was disgusted by what I was as a person. He was so cynical and that is what I like, boys who are really horrible and cynical and angry at the world and really intelligent. I like sarcastic boys. He was taking the piss out of me, and so I had to fight back until he finally relented. And now he is nice to me.”
Thats good stuff – now you all know the criteria by which you must choose your partners.

I can’t believe it; I have to praise the police twice in only a few days!!! (I’m kidding – I think most of them are outstanding and dutiful officers – it’s just the bastards who tie them up in stupid rules and regulations that ruin things)…BUT they have done all of us proud. They are now hacking into No10’s emails in order to get past the blatant cover-ups and the filthy behaviour of politicians and their cronies. I hope something good will come of this; namely Mr Blair resigning. Look at his face, look at his arrogant walk and his patronizing speeches – is it not a good thing for these to be banished from No10? Can we not reclaim our position amongst respected nations rather than remain hated and isolated (like America)?!
Metropolitan Police: Forget the druggies, the pushers, the Kurdish yobs, the Somalian gangs, the pissed off single mothers and the alcoholics on the streets – you have something far greater to do and our future rests upon it. Please, do your best, we all have faith in you. Get Tony Bliar and his cronies. Make them feel the full force of the law. Show them that the men in blue are not to be messed with. Show Blunkett that for all of his tenure as home secretary violating your duties and jobs, you remain unscathed. Show Britain that whilst voters fell for his crooked smile and cheap lies, you remained aloof and intelligent. You are our hope and with your courage and strength, nothing can stand in your way. Let the truth guide you. Godspeed men, godspeed. (I think that should do the trick).

After a few upsets with the regularity of my heartbeats Arsenal beat Man Utd 2-1! And what a game it was and definitely it was a game that a perservering Arsenal deserved! I must admit that Henry did deserve a bit of a talking to to say the least for some impressive theatrics!
I won’t bother writing anymore! I am thrilled, the fans were all thrilled (I was there you see:)) and thats that! If you want to read a good account of it, please check out the following link.

Not that the police are the greatest; but then most of the problems are not their fault – it’s the fault of meddling stupid politicians and really annoying people who expect them to file every breath they take in triplicate. Nevertheless a typically disgusting comment from the most incompetent home secretary to grace Great Britain said the following: “We want thoroughness, not theatre. And it is perfectly feasible for the Metropolitan Police to distinguish between a criminal likely to evade capture and a woman doing a decent job of work on behalf of the Prime Minister”. I don’t even want to comment on the absurdity of the comment; but interfering in police business are we Mr Blunkett?! The gall is impressive, I must say. He has flouted the law, played around with the law, created ridiculous laws and now he isn’t happy with those who uphold the law!
Good answer from Glens Smyth chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers, responded to the politicians’ comments, saying they were “particularly disturbing. Read the rest of this entry »

Nadia Eweida is now allowed to wear her cross openly at Heathrow.
For those of you who don’t know; BA did a really stupid thing and prohibited her from wearing a cross. It was only a one-inch affair…not like she was lugging a massive wooden structure around. Plus, if you ever have the misfortune of going to Heathrow, you will probably notice that half the staff are either Sikhs with turbans or Muslim women with scarves. Bizzarrely enough, BA didn’t say a word to them.

The woman thinks she has a following! Now who was it that said dont try to tell a stupid person they’re stupid?!
She is (in her own words) “a known person and there are people that like me. I’ve got a fan base and I’m scared of being rejected”. Is she barking mad?! She has no such thing! What she does have are millions of people who watch her to thank God that they are no-where near as pathetic as she is. A few others watch her to see the antics of a human being in the shape of a mentally retarded hippo.
Jade Goody: “I said, `I don’t know who she is, Shilpa whatever-her-name-is, Shilpa this, Shilpa that, Shilpa Poppadom’. But I didn’t say Shilpa Poppadom in a racial way”.
Anyway she is off, and if she has a clever publicist, she will rake in millions from exclusives on every channel she can get on. That’s capitalism for you!

Here is a picture which is not very clear but I think you can see a fool standing on the actual handrails of the double decker bus (his leg is on the left). He was a member of a group of complete idiots who kept running up and down the top deck of the bus and throwing things at each other which found their way down the stairway.
After the debacle last week with the poor man who was attacked, I was really pissed off now – really pissed off. So firstly I went to the driver and told him. Then he said: “what shall I do?” so I said stop the bus and tell them to get off. An old woman also came and supported me and the bus driver stayed at the stop and spoke into a mic and told them to get off. We stayed at the stop for at least twenty minutes. I kid you not. Take a good look at this bastard. His name is Dr Mike Mitchell and he is the director-general of railways at the Department for Transport. He is a tosser. Why? Let me tell you why. As you are aware, the transport system in London and the entire UK is under a massive strain…not because of the lack of funding but because of incompetent bastards like him, companies that charge ridiculous amounts of money and no real development and expansion plan. The Tubes are always packed during rush hour; overground trains are ALWAYS late (always meaning 95% of the time – my overground train is actually on time twice a week if I am lucky-I ride it about 15 times a week). To top it all off; drivers are paid fantastically well, have great holidays and benefits and you and I, THE ACTUAL CUSTOMERS are being charged SHITLOADS of money to keep this decrepit system running.
Now onto what this man, (Dr Mitchell) was quoted as saying: “he does not think it is unacceptable to expect to stand in the peak. It is not realistic for passengers to expect a seat in rush-hour”.
Yes it’s not realistic because the system is rubbish – BUT IT IS CERTAINLY REASONABLE to request it; especially when we PAY for it.
Dr Mitchell is chauffeur-driven to work.

Nick, a reader, has just posted a comment with the following: “I met a man in London recently who’s job is to deliberately phase the traffic lights to cause congestion, then to readjust them when the charge goes up to convince us the charge is working”…
That is outrageous! I am going to write to CC and see what they have to say about that. Already the city is full of over-excited traffic wardens and speed cameras – now this?!

Well; it is a tumultuous clash between an upper-middle class woman who speaks 8 languages, is well-educated, well-mannered (to the point of eccentricity), comes from a “good family” and a group of yobs who come from dysfunctional families and thrive in dank housing with beer cans as secondary carpets. It is almost unanimously agreed that Shilpa has set a most impressive example for others to follow – she has dealt with terrible bullying and ignorance with rather unexpected grace. Jade and Co have shown themselves to be throwaways to the Yob culture which afflicted Britain for so many years and apparently still has its stalwarts. Looking at the exchange between Jade and Shilpa, the sight of a barking, overweight and ignorant woman made for really sorry TV watching. Not for Shilpa – Shilpa obviously has much to return to. Not simply financially or career-wise; Shilpa is an educated and cultured woman who has a brain. Jade is an ignorant woman who will never be able to produce anything of worth. For me it is not racism (I am sure Jade will try to assure everyone of this as soon as she leaves) that is making Jade do this. Read the rest of this entry »

Clash of Civilisations Conference
The Mayor of London is hosting a Clash of Civilisations culture in London on Saturday. Attendance is free but you need to register online. I am looking forward to the main debate which will be between Livingstone and this fanatically right-wing US academic called Daniel Pipes (who set up campus watch – a kind of mcarthyist group to “out” pro-Palestinian academics)
I will hopefully be there and will write a review asap.

Now Blair has also waded into the argument saying that Britons should oppose racism in all of its forms. Asian MP Keith Vaz also tabled an Early Day Motion which sought to make Channel Four tell the BB households about certain limits etc.
This is all a very interesting debate which raises an issue of whether or not the BB household is truly representative of Britons or not. If, as in the household, many Britons are ignorant and racist, then this would be a problem. Whilst I was born and raised in London all my life, I think I am lucky in that London is a truly unique and culturally diverse city. From what I have seen during the past few years, not much of Britain is like London. That is worrying!

And Mittal has now donated 2 million pounds to the Labour party. I wonder whether this means more big contracts with other governments now (last time he donated, Mr Blair wrote a personal letter to the Romanian government backing Mittal on a bid – Mittal won the bid). Why can’t the Tories find someone like this?! The Lib Dems at least have a Romanian as an Mp’s girlfriend (its a weak link I know…)

I guess in a way one thing that Trudy Webb did after her death was really bring attention to this issue and also the plight of many women stuck in this profession.
After so many people viewed my posts on Trudy Webb and a few got rather upset and posted some angry comments; I decided to research more into the topic. Now there are things that I discovered to be wrong and right about my previous opinions and prostitution is a really contentious issue as it is one of the things that are available all around the world and in all social communities…As such so many different people have strong religions, moral and personal opinions about it. Over 2000 complaints from enraged Celebrity Big Brother viewers have flooded Ofcom. The complaints allege that racial offences are being committed against Shilpa Shetty, a prominent Bollywood actress. Already a number of BB particpants have been referring to Shilpa as “the Indian” and on another occassion her accent was made fun of. Ofcom is now looking into the matter. Shilpa Shetty’s mother is hoping that Shilpa will not be adversely affected by the terrible behaviour meted out to her.
This is one of the least watched BB’s and one that has recieved the most complaints.
